Quality and Production ControlMatrix Controls Textile and Hoisery Quality Production Control

With over 300 customers (Matrix in Textiles)and 25,000 systems installed for the Circular Knitting Industry, Matrix looks forward to providing our textile manufacturers with total quality and production management control.

KnitQuest

Matrix engineers succeeded in real-time with KnitQuest, a powerful combination of Knit Monitoring (MKMS), Automated Production Scheduling, and Business and Production Intelligence.

Our knit monitoring component is defined as MKMS, the Matrix Knit Monitoring and Management System. Infrared Defect Scanning and Controlled Yarn Rate Monitoring, communicate with our terminally mounted F-1000 Monitor/Controllers. Extensive data is collected and analyzed, providing you with real-time displays of efficiencies across the entire plant floor. The result is impeccable fabric quality, with savings spanning seven distinct categories.

Phase two of the KnitQuest triad, integrates our Automated Production Scheduling with Matrix’s MKMS. Unique to KnitQuest and the Textile Industry, is the ability of this combination to avert knitting production from a machine experiencing delay, and automatically detouring production to output on a machine in current production, or necessitating activation of a machine currently not in use.

Phase three of KnitQuest, Business and Production Intelligence, completes the package, and brings circular knit control full circle.

Business Intelligence introduces the term Dashboard, a technology allowing on-line reporting with the ability to drill down into the details on any given report, and export the information to other applications such as Excel. The package goes beyond historical data analysis (information from today and yesterday), and takes you to tomorrow, allowing business simulations to be created from your company’s history.

F-2000F Central Monitoring System

The Central Monitoring System of the F-2000F allows the mill supervisor to view vital flat-machine plant floor operations from a single centrally located PC screen. Management can see machine efficiencies, track order production, and see preventive maintenance (P.M.) alerts. Operator tracking is performed, as knitters and mechanics log on and off. Pre-set inspection alerts result from a programmable inspection cycle providing essential quality control, while essential shift and piece data are stored in real and historical time. Continuous Yarn Rate Monitoring provides consistent quality, while eliminating waste associated with under/over feeds.

RunStop-Fabric Defect Detection

Matrix Controls, is the industry leader in circular knitting fabric defect scanning. We have over 15,000 scanners in use on Jersey, Mesh, Terry, Interlock, Rib, Thermal, Fleece, Raschel, and Spandex fabrics throughout the world. The RunStop, allows high-resolution, threshold adjustable defect scanning and has elevated the quality of fabric for 50 years. In addition to reduction in waste and increased efficiencies, Matrix has seen improved fabric quality lead to increased orders and your welcoming of new customers.

TexCheck-Electronic Thread Counter

With precision the TexCheck, counts and displays total events (thread count, yarn count, wire count…) in a stretch of fabric/material. The TexCheck’s abilities go beyond the textile industry, and have found applications in the automobile industry, home construction, and technical fabrics such as Kevlar. Savings/profits will rise with:

  • reduction in defective product
  • improved fabric quality
  • reduction in waste
  • increased plant efficiency
  • shortening of developmental deadlines and improved material designs

ACCURate-Yarn Rate Solutions

Matrix engineers designed ACCURate with the ability to continuously monitor up to five different yarn rates and with adaptability to a wide variety of machines (even Lycra fed). Our Yarn Rate Transducers are placed on one positive feeder from each group of feeders, and with each belt being monitored, knitting machines are stopped when out of tolerance. Returns are rapid with:

  • reductions in waste (yarn, defective fabric, dyeing and finishing supplies)
  • reduced manual labor
  • increased efficiency and time saved
  • increased fabric quality (branding of your Company’s reputation)
  • on time deliveries of quality fabric and reduction in returns of defective fabric

HMON-Hosiery Monitoring

Matrix’s HMON allows single location control of the entire hosiery plant, enabling the supervisor to monitor production, defect data, and total floor efficiency, while allowing visualization of detailed reporting. Production waste is reduced, quality understanding of defect types is recorded, and there is finer control of order output. The units offer total piece and defective piece monitoring, work shift entries, and monitoring of knitting element life just to name a few HMON attributes. The options of Automated Scheduling and Preventative Maintenance modules round out the package.

Matrix Gate Switch-Safety Interlock

Customers acquire our products and services to provide the necessary edge to successfully compete in the ever-changing global textile marketplace. With Matrix’s Gate Switch that edge will be accomplished safely and with confidence. In the event of a knitting machine switch failure, the gate switch upon opening of the gate to one inch and beyond, is activated to disengage a dangerously running knitting machine. Workers and management are at ease, and there is built in prevention to prevent manual override of the instrument. Manufactured for durability with a die cast rugged aluminum housing, steel operating arms and a mechanical life of 1 million contact operations, the gate switch is a sure addition to every knitting machine.

Margin Meter-Diameter Control

With applications in the textile industry in measuring fabric width, the Margin Meter has also been useful in the Food and Beverage Industry. Here quality control is instilled upon measurements exceeding a threshold, as relay contacts are energized to control the gross inflation of the casing (in this instance – sausage casings). With reduction in waste, improved quality, and assistance in development, there are savings across all industries.

The following companies have seen rapid return on investment and dramatic savings/increased profits over the past 50 years:

  • Alstyle Apparel
  • Anvil Knitwear
  • Caracol Knits
  • Concord Fabrics
  • Danube Knitware
  • Delta Apparel
  • Domincan Knits
  • Duraflex
  • Elcatex
  • Fesslers
  • Fruit of the Loom
  • Gilden Activewear
  • Grupo Yazbek
  • Hanes Brands Inc.
  • Hilmex
  • Milliken & Co.
  • National Textiles
  • Russell Corp
  • Sara Lee
  • Texollini

The motivational force driving Matrix Controls’ quality and management engineered solutions, is simple in explanation; we enjoy helping the textile industry grow and increasing profits for the industry’s companies. We will be donating scholarships in the name of our customers, to benefit the Honduran people and help upgrade the level of expertise in their apparel and textile industries.
